Wedding Plan Updates
Sunday, July 15th, 2007

Adrianne asked a couple of days ago about whether people should be booking hotel rooms, or what. As I understand it, most (if not all) of the rooms in the homes of friends and family are spoken for. Also, on Saturday (the night before the wedding), I am planning to spend the night at the hotel, hopefully hanging out with anyone who is there. I’m looking forward to this, as it’ll give me more time to catch up with people I haven’t seen in a while. Ruth will spend that night at Ramona’s house with her bridesmaids.

We’ve learned that, in order to assure that you get one of the rooms we had set aside, you need to reserve your room by July 28th. I just tried to use their on-line reservation system, and it didn’t work for that weekend, so you probably need to call them and tell them you’re with the Barrett/Johnson party. Here are the phone numbers, taken from the website (which is linked on the “Ceremony” page):

Reservations: 800-396-5007
Phone: 423-753-3100

Also, we need ideas for the rest of us can get up to Saturday afternoon while most of the women are having their nails done. I’ll try to come up with something good, but anyone with a fun idea should pipe up.

Find Out What it Means to Me

The page where you can RSVP is up. Which is good news, because (most of) the invitations went out yesterday, and I really didn’t want them to arrive before people had a place to RSVP.

Getting to the Wedding
Thursday, May 31st, 2007

Nate and Emily have discovered that, if you are coming from a big city such as Chicago, it may save you a real ton of money to fly into either Charlotte or Greensboro. When I checked just now, this was on the order of $400 to Johnson City versus $170 to Charlotte and around $250 to Greensboro.

Obviously, Chicago is a special case, with a huge hub in town that probably has really cheap flights to random places. Still, you might want to check that out, or use the feature on sites such as travelocity which lets you compare prices at several near-by airports. If it looks like this is a good idea for you, please get in touch with us (or start a discussion here in the comments) so that we can help find the best way to get people from these airports to Jonesborough.

For instance, if multiple people will be flying into Charlotte, perhaps those people would like to rent a car together? Or perhaps people flying into Greensboro can hitch rides with my friends and family? Nate & Em have dibs on Keith and Bethany’s free space, if they decide to use it, but there’s a chance that we can find more space if needs be.
